Wildlife and Nature Adventures in Mexico City

Desierto de los Leones National Park
Desierto de los Leones National Park (Desert of the Lions National Park), set in the southwest of Mexico City is a great place to spot wildlife. The fragrant pine and oak forests are home to diverse species of birds, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians. Birders can enjoy birdwatching, while wildlife lovers can come across native wildlife such as deer, foxes, and more in their natural habitat.
Los Dinamos
Check out Los Dinamos National Park, a Protected Natural Area with plenty of adrenaline-pumping activities. Guests can indulge in various activities from zip lining to horseback riding and rappelling. The park is an ecotourism strip with forests and waterfalls, and those who travel deep enough can also spot wildlife, including voles, axolotls, quails, harlequin, and wild rabbits.
Chapultepec Park (Bosque de Chapultepec)
Head to one of Mexico City's popular areas, having a wide range of activities and attractions, Chapultepec Park (or Bosque Chapultepec). The area has an internationally renowned zoo, fountains, monuments, and plenty of green spaces and gardens. Nature lovers will love to explore the less frequented Tercera Section, which has wooded areas and is home to local wildlife. The section has been declared a Protected Natural Area, and one can spot wildlife, including Mexico's Cooper hawk, Harris's hawk, wild ducks, Vireos, Warblers and Kingfishers.
Pedregal de San Ángel Ecological Reserve
Pedregal de San Ángel Ecological Reserve is one of the most beautiful places to check out in Mexico City. Located within the grounds of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), this ecological reserve is blessed with deep green and magnificently natural surroundings. The reserve is home to unique flora and fauna, including reptiles, birds, and small mammals adapted to the volcanic rock landscape.
